Opportunities for Current Volunteers

A Blogger’s Call To All Volunteers

HIV Alliance is looking to expand its social media footprint by launching a new blog! Volunteers, employees and community members are encouraged to participate by writing a blog post and sending it to the development team. Blog posts can be about:
- Volunteer experiences

- Inspirational stories

- Relevant Research Articles

- HIV/AIDS newsworthy stories and events

- Eugene community and events

- Other ideas? Send them to us!

The development team will act as the blog moderator and will edit and select posts to publish. Blog posts should be between 400-600 words and follow the HIV Alliance mission statement, core values and vision statement. We also encourage you to create posts containing multimedia and links.

Need Members for Faith Based Outreach Committee
The Faith Based Outreach Committee is looking for new members.  The Faith Based Outreach Committee is designed to find partnerships between HIV Alliance and other faith based organizations to help further the mission of HIV Alliance.  Some of the partnerships the committee has done in the past include, recruiting volunteers, holding educational workshops at church meetings or youth groups, speaking to congregations about the issues faced by HIV Alliance clients, and advertising HIV Alliance services and events.  Meetings are on the fourth Tuesday of every month between 12-1pm.  Let me know if you are interested.

Outreach with New Roads Staff
New Roads does street outreach to homeless and runaway youth at various times throughout the week.  They have offered to have a volunteer at outreach with the New Roads staff to promote HIV testing and provide referrals to HIV Alliance services.  Since times vary, just let me know if you are interested in doing outreach with New Roads and we will see what can be worked out.  You will need to have been working with clients in the HIV Alliance Prevention Department for a few months to qualify.

Upcoming Trainings

Level II General Training

  • Saturday, September 24th from 10:00am - 3:00pm
  • Friday, October 21st from 12:00pm - 5:00pm

Level II NEX Training

  • Friday, September 30th from 9:00am – 12:30pm

Send me an e-mail to sign up. RSVP required.

Training note:  You can do the Level II trainings out of order, but you need to have gone through all the trainings before participating in an activity.  For example, to be a HIV 101 Presenter, you need to go through HIV 101 Train the Trainer & Level II General.  You can do them in either order, but you need to do both before you can present.

Recruiting New Volunteers
You do the best job recruiting other volunteers.  If you have any friends, family, or coworkers that might be interested in volunteering at HIV Alliance, we have the following volunteer orientations on the schedule.

  • Monday, September 12th from 5:30pm - 7:30pm
  • Monday, September 26th from 5:30pm - 7:30pm

They do not need to RSVP to the orientation, but if they have any questions or want more information, have them send me an e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call me at 541.342.5088 x 116.
