Grant Makes Impact

HIV Alliance recently received the great news that the Sacred Heart Medical Center Foundation Community Health Committee has granted us $30,000 worth of needle supplies for the coming year. This grant ensures that our Sana Needle Exchange Program (NEX) will be able to run at its highest level, despite economic challenges.

We would like to thank the Community Health Committee for their generous gift and kind words about the NEX program. The committee said that NEX "demonstrates a decrease in the inappropriate utilization of the emergency room and/or urgent care", a fact of which we are proud. The clients who use NEX not only receive safer injection supplies, but also have the opportunity to be treated by a wound care doctor, be tested for HIV and Hepatitis C, learn about how to live a safer lifestyle and receive information about options for detox.

With the continual support of the community for Needle Exchange, we are happy to know that we are reducing the number of new infections and working toward a future free of HIV.
